Mike Davis returns with his New York City based New Wonders septet,.The band vividly invokes America’s Jazz Age during the 1920s, when jazz was the soundtrack for dramatic national changes and played a central part in people's dreams, adventures and romances. The band gives exquisite attention to musical detail, and their deep passion for original recordings is evident in each performance.

Ethan Uslan returns to Tri-State as one of the hottest names on the ragtime/traditional jazz scene today. Though he studied classical piano, he harbored a secret ragtime addiction, complementing his classical studies by learning to play like Fats Waller, Jelly Roll Morton, and George Gershwin. He has recorded CDs, and performed silent film scores on DVD releases (and spins a great yarn.) We look forward to a terrific return performance!

This Tri-State Jazz favorite, which last performed for the Society in 2018, returns to Haddonfield. "The Al Harrison Dixieland Band is a polished ensemble with enough firepower, as Duke Ellington would say, to 'scorch the moon!'" - Jim McGann, The Strutter, Tri-State Jazz Society. “A great, lively band that preserves the tradition of classic jazz without embalming it. The creativity is at full throttle, and so is the sense of fun. You can’t listen to Al and his friends and not feel better about life in general.” - Joe Barron, music reporter, Montgomery Newspapers.

During the past decade, Danny Tobias has emerged as one of TSJS’ most favored musicians, having appeared with the Midiri Brothers Sextet, Marty Grosz's Hot Winds, David Ostwald’s Louis Armstrong Eternity Band, and as a leader in his own right, including the annual All-Star Concerts. On this latest occasion. Danny will be joined by two illustrious NYC-based musicians: multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Vince Giordano (another veteran TSJS performer, here playing string bass, tuba, and bass sax) and pianist Conal Fawkes, plus reed man/violinist/mandolinist Dennis Lichtman and drummer/vocalist Jim Lawlor; also a TSJS stalwart). Equally at home with a cornet or trumpet, Tobias brings beautiful shape and individuality to his jazz performances. Playing professionally since the age of 15, he’s best known for traditional jazz and swing, either reproducing classic arrangements or artful improvisation with the music of “The Jazz Age” at Tri-State Jazz Society’s concert at Community Arts Center, on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Dan last brought his friends to Tri-State in January 2022; today we see the return of Dan leading and playing trumpet, with Vince Giordano on tuba and bass sax, and Jim Lawlor on drums; also joined today by Randy Reinhart on trombone and Arnt Arntzen on banjo and guitar. Get ready for "an oasis of joy!" (in the words of our reviewer after Dan's last appearance)
